Phillip Phillips says he is “excited” to present his “roots pop” for the first time in Quebec, Monday and Tuesday, after two busy years of touring. The young singer is also preparing a new album to be released “sometime in May,” promising to surprise us with an album that’s “completely different” from the first.

After a triumphant debut with the album The World From The Side of The Moon, certified quadruple platinum, and which includes titles Home – over 5 million copies sold – and Gone , Gone , Gone , Phillip Phillips doesn’t hide the great pressure he felt when preparing his second disc.

The first single, Raging Fire, was finalized last week in New York. The catchy, edgy love song will be included on the still unnamed second album by the winner of American Idol 2012.
I want the make the best music possible, so I put a lot of pressure on myself, he told the Journal during a telephone interview. We have been working on it for a month and a half.
Although he retained his musical essence, a mix of pop and folk, he promises to surprise many. “It will be completely different, and it will reveal a side of me that people don’t know. It will be a little darker… I’m very excited for people to hear it,” he said, not wanting to reveal too much.

Winner of Season 11 of American Idol, Phillip Phillips returned last Thursday to the set of the show to sing Raging Fire.

Life After American Idol

American Idol is among the most watched American talent competitions by our neighbors to the south. The show, now in its 13th season, launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson.

What memories of the show does he have? “It was really stressful, he confesses. I have many memories attached to this experience, but I remember that it was mainly very stressful and there were a lot of emotions. But it’s hard work. There’s no doubt that American Idol has opened doors for me, but when it’s over, it’s over. And I want to keep working hard, because there are not many people who have this opportunity. ”

Adored wherever he goes, how does a young man his age manage success? “I’m very lucky. I am surrounded by good people who keep me grounded,” says the singer who hopes to have a long career.

Phillip Phillips will perform a sold out show at the Grand Théâtre de Québec on March 10. There are still some tickets left for the show on March 11 at Place des Arts in Montreal.
