Phillip Phillips Nominated for an American Music Award as Best New Artist
It has been a great week for Phillip Phillips fans. On Tuesday, he released an unannounced acoustic LP on iTunes. The album, titled iTunes Session, contains a selection of songs from Phillip’s The World From The Side Of The Moon beautifully rendered in acoustic form.
And yesterday it was announced that Phillip received a nomination for Best New Artist from the American Music Awards. The AMAs are an annual music awards show where the winners are chosen by the public and the fans.
Starting November 1st, fans will be able to cast their vote for Phillip on the AMAs website. Voting on the AMAs website is restricted to residents of the US.
However, everybody, including fans living outside the US, will be able to vote via Twitter by using Phillip’s Twitter handle or name, the award category for which he is nominated (Best New Artist) and the hashtag #AMAs.
Here is an example of a valid voting tweet: @Phillips New Artist Of The Year #AMAs or Phillip Phillips New Artist Of The Year #AMAs
When voting via Twitter, both tweets and retweets will count. You can start Tweet voting for the New Artist Of The Year category on November 1st.
This nomination marks another great achievement in Phillip’s already very successful career as he gets more recognition from new fans and the music industry. He has previously received nominations for Teen Choice Awards, MuchMusic Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards.
The American Music Awards winners will be announced during a live broadcast on Sunday, November 24th from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
EDIT: It was brought to our attention that there has been some confusion with the AMAs voting rules regarding voting via Twitter. The information we have received from Phillip’s team is that the voting on Twitter for the New Artist Of The Year category starts on November 1st. You can find this information on the AMAs website but they don’t specify the rules for voting via Twitter.
We are also waiting for confirmation about fans outside the US being able to vote with their Tweets. The information on the AMAs website again does not specify the rules as they apply to Twitter votes. As of now, only residents of the US will be able to vote for his category via Twitter or the AMAs website, starting November 1st.

CONGRATULATIONS PHILLIP!!!!
To thank fans for their support Phillips is re-releasing his debut album to include three additional live tracks. Live versions of “Gone, Gone, Gone,” “Where We Came From” and “Man on the Moon” will join the live version of his hit single “Home” that is on the original album. This fan edition of The World From the Side of the Moon is due November 19th, on the one-year anniversary of the album’s original release. Fans can also purchase the three tracks as a separate set titled Phillip Philips: Live. The new live songs were recorded during stops on John Mayer’s Born and Raised tour.
